Media such as tapes and disks are 30 year old technology and are unreliable. They are easily damaged and 60% of backups are incomplete. Also, tapes in daily use wear out and deteriorate after 6 months and often fail to do a full backup. In using such media, 50% of restores fail on first attempt, meaning that any data stored is inaccessible and, should a disaster happen, unusable. keepITsafe backup manager ensure thats backups are done automatically. Do I need to buy more hardware to use this service? No, all you need is a computer or server and Broadband. We will install the product on to your machine(s) and set the technology to run. There is no additional hardware needed by the client. How do I know my data is being backed up?Our technical staff monitor and manage the entire backup process. In the event of an error, clients are alerted, if necessary and the situation is rectified. Clients can also login to their keepITsafe® account and view a history of each days backup reports, in order to guarantee the service is working. How can you guarantee my data is secure? Before your data is taken offsite it is encrypted to 128-bit level. This level of security equals or exceeds that used by most financial institutions. Once this is done, your data is unreadable by anyone. The Client alone holds the decryption key and is the only one who can decode the information. The data is then sent via a secure network to our data centre. What is encryption? How does it secure my data?Encryption is the translation of data into a secret code. Encryption is the most effective way to achieve data security. To read an encrypted file you must have access to a key or password that enables you to decrypt it. Only the client has the decryption code. Not keepITsafe® technical staff or anybody else has access to this code. What happens if I lose my encryption key?The code is stored only by the Client. If this code is lost or misplaced, all of the data stored in the data centre is lost. So make sure that the encryption key you use is memorable. Practices and procedures are put into place in each office ensuring the rules are complied with and the data is managed, protected and secured. What sort of professions do you work with?We work with every type of professional office who realise and appreciate the importance of their business data. How long will an online backup take? The initial backup of your data is the longest one and will usually take a couple of hours depending on the amount of data that is being backed up. The backup is scheduled at a time that suits you and your staff and involves no interruption to your office. Once this initial backup is complete, each subsequent backup is done on an incremental basis. This means that prior to each backup taking place, your data is analysed and only the data that has changed or been updated will be backed up. This makes the process faster and smoother for the end user.
